Jessie Pauze Whitton was my maternal grandfather, his daughter, Thelma Whitton, was my mother, she was born October 20th in White City, San Augustine, County, Texas. lucy Florence Wagstaff was her mother. Her parents were married on August 04, 1923 San Augustine County, Texas. I have a copy of their marriage certificate in my records.

Jesse Pauze Whitton was born, on 12 Jun 1892, in Patroon, Shelby, Texas, USA, and (I believe Killed) on 19 Aug 1929 in Zavalla, Texas, USA at the age of 38 years. I found 2 different death certificates, both with a lot of confusing information. First stating he was a widower is not correct; my mother remembers the day he died, my grandmother, his wife, my mother, and her little brother Leo his children were visiting my mother’s maternal grandparents at their home. They had come by wagon and horse to take them to visit them for a couple of days. She doesn’t remember how they discovered deathh, but she remembers well the night of his death being back at their home where they put him on the kitchen table. Her mother would not let her go into the kitchen, but with the house full of people, she slipped into the kitchen anyway, seeing her daddy on the kitchen table with coins on his eyes.

His First marriage was to May Wagstaff; she was born Abt. 1894, They married on 19 Jul 1911 in Shelby County, Texas. They had 3 children, a daughter Bula Whitton, Abt. 1913 and sadly passed away 12 Dec 1920 Carthage, Panola, Texas, age 8. on Buford Earvin Whitton, born 01 Oct 1915, in San Augustine, Texas  ( My mother was closer to Burford ) Also a son, Thomas Whitton. Buford died on 21 May 1991, in Harris County, Texas, USA. His wife May died of tuberculous about 3 years before he married my grandmother, Lucy Florence Wagstaff.

Leo Whitton was my mother’s little brother, born on 02 Jul 1926 in San Augustine, Texas. eo joined the Army Air Corps early in life and made a career in the Air Force. Leo died 17 Feb 1972, Hernando, Hillsborough, Florida, USA at age 45.
